Invest in yourself. You know thats something you truly want to do, but you cant pull the trigger. You are being pulled in all directions from work to family to self-care and even taking care of aging family, your passion is pushed to the wayside. Another day, you tell yourself. When my children go to school, thats when Ill invest in myself. But, Im here today to help you see there is no shame in investing in yourself today. This will make you a better person overall, a healthier person and a successful business owner. Because you do want to focus on your passion. And if you can monetize that passion, investing yourself was worth it then, eh? Make this year the year you re-invent yourself, follow your passion of writing and become a freelance writer. Invest In Yourself Whats your passion? Im hoping its creativity and writing 🙂 Ive helped thousands of people become freelance writers. Many of them have a deep-seeded passion to write. They wrote stories as little children, took creative writing classes in high school, but then they grew up. They focus on getting that job that will secure their way of life and stopped writing. Years go by, and theyre doing well creating the life they want, but they fundamentally know there is something missing. Its that creativity they felt when they wrote. And the more they think about writing, the more it pulls them in. They declare in a whisper, yes, I want to pursue writing. That was the first step in investing in yourself. This declaration is what can carry you to make your choice a real action. But, as soon as you declare this want, your logical brain steps in. Ahem, you cant make a living writing you know! Theres no money in writing! And you start to believe this. Im here to say, NO! Thats simply not true. You can monetize your passion. If writing is your passion, you can make money writing. But, for that to happen, you need to invest in yourself. From education to tools and resources, to make that choice a reality, you have to do the work. 9 Ways to Invest In Yourself So, you want to be a writer? Freelance writing is a great way to make an income from writing. You essentially write for others like businesses, brands, start-ups etc., and they pay you to write for them! Sweet! Lets look at 9 ways you can do to get started on your path to becoming a freelance writer. 1. Educate Yourself The first step to investing in your passion is to educate yourself about writing and freelance writing. Hop on Google and search for freelance writing. See what advice pops up. Save Money You know you hate your job and you want to quit, but you cant do it today. You have to plan to invest in yourself and that means starting to save money so that you can take the leap into freelance writing. This can be early in the morning, late at night, only on the weekends or an hour a day after supper. Start small and do one hour. When you are more comfortable or your day allows more time, increase to two or three hours at a time. When you do this, you give yourself permission to explore your writing passion. 4. Give Yourself Goals Goal setting is HUGE for success. If you write out your goals you are much more likely going to achieve them. So, while youre watching TV at night, get out your bullet journal or notebook and write out your goals to start freelance writing or whatever chosen passion you want. Some goals you may have are: Save $50 a month Write 500 words a day Read two freelance writing blog posts a day Quit my job in 3 months 5. Get Help Look doing this alone is difficult. I did it alone and I made a ton of mistakes. This just took me longer to reach my goal of becoming a profitable freelance writer. Im hoping my blog is a place to help you figure out the right way to do this. Its always a good idea to learn from those that have done it before you, and have done it successfully. For you, this might mean asking other freelance writers, investing in a course or talking about this with friends and family. Having that support is paramount to helping you succeed and monetize your passion. 6. See This Through It isnt enough to declare you want to start writing again. You have to see this through. From start to finish. This means investing in yourself! Break down the steps you feel you have to actually start getting paid for your writing. Also, give yourself a goal to landing at least one freelance writing job. This shows you that you did see this through and at that point you can decide if its worth it to pursue more. Some people give up. They land a low paying gig or they suddenly find themselves writing on a content mill. Others, luck out and land a great gig and take off. Still others, start off with low-paying gigs, but know there is better work out there (that was me!). So, give yourself a timeline and hold yourself accountable. 7. Be Committed As with anything new you try, stay committed. I know that may be hard with your passion. What if its months and you arent making money with your passion? How can you remain committed to this? I know thats tough. But if you set yourself up for success saved money, freelance writing on the side of your day job, and learned from someone who already did this you can still be committed and keep on trying. 8. Do the Work Okay! Now its time to take action. To monetize your passion you need to form a plan to get started. With freelance writing this may be: Figure outyour niche Create samples Connect with other freelance writers Build your social media profiles Pitch to job boards Looks like a lot, but remember, youre investing in yourself 🙂 Plus, I have a free course that goes through all those steps and more! 9. Give Yourself a Break Remember, the path to your passion isnt linear. There will be bumps and roadblocks during your journey. So give yourself a break. Sit back and re-asses what you are doing. I hear many stories from my subscribers telling me they started out doing all the steps to take action, but then there was a family emergency or their husband lost their job. They had to put their passion on the back burner for a while. Thats okay. Its when you come back to it that increases your chances youll succeed! A Knights Tale analysis of a film trailer Essay Example A Knights Tale analysis of a film trailer Paper A Knights Tale analysis of a film trailer Paper Essay Topic: Film Film trailers are a most effective and popular way to promote and advertise a film. They are shown at cinemas and on TV to catch the audiences attention and to let the viewer know what the film is about. They are often shown many months before the film is due for release to let fans know what their favourite stars are working on next. Sometimes when a series of films are planned the sequel trailer is shown at the same time as the first episode is being screened. An example of this is Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I have chosen to analyse the film trailer, which was used to promote A Knights Tale. I decided to use this trailer because A knights tale was one of my favourite films of last year! I like this film because it is so different. It is a historical film but it also is very funny and entertaining. It is a not-too-serious look at the world of medieval knights, chivalry and tournaments. All the historical details are there but they are given a modern twist, which appeals. A Knights Tale seems to appeal to a wide range of target audiences. My first reaction would be to say it is targeted at teenage boys and men because of the action and the big football link, but also the film could appeal to females as well because of the main star Heath Ledger. There is a hint of a love story, which instantly attracts girls. The film is rated, as a PG so would also be suitable as a family film. This film can be viewed on many levels. Very obviously it has action, but also quite subtle humour and it can be seen as a satire or parody on football. The Knights Tale is a new take on the Cinderella fairy tale. Its a rag to riches tale, which has eternal appeal to all ages. A Knights tale is set in medieval Europe. The people and the events in the trailer make this very obvious. Although it is medieval, it has a very modern twist because the characters behave in a modern way. The clothes worn while medieval looking would in some cases transfer really well into todays fashion. It is not a serious medieval film, but a fun, love and action story about dreams. The whole film has a very big link to modern day football or boxing. This was the sport of the time and the main source of entertainment. Even down to the last details it compares to football. In the trailer we see big roaring crowds, singing, cheering and chanting for their favourite knight. The supporters wear the colours of the knight and their shield, just like a supporter would wear a football strip. You also see people selling food, drink and flags just like hot dog vendors at a match. In the trailer you can see the crowd warming up and chanting the winners name. There is one clip in the trailer showing a helmet flying into the audience. It is made in slow motion and the crowd are jumping up to grab it just alike a football kicked into the crowd. Another clip shows the crowd doing a Mexican wave. This is linked to football because it first originated in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. Just like football, jousting is in tournaments and finally leads up to a big world cup. The clips chosen, like most trailers, show off the most exciting parts of the film. At the start it is building up excitement with the crowd anticipating the sport. There is a big variety of film clips and it tells the basis of the plot, without giving too much away. This leaves the viewers with an idea of the story but still left wanting to no more. There are also a few hints of the romance in the trailer, which catches peoples attention. The trailer also identifies the main characters. Heath Ledger, who is quite well known, was main star. He has been seen in such films as The Patriot and Ten things I hate bout you. In this film he has the leading role, William Thatcher. In the start of the trailer you see him as a young peasant boy and then later an adult making his dream of becoming a knight into reality. The trailer concentrates mainly on him but you recognise his friends, a girl he might fall for and the bad guy. William is obviously the good guy. He wears quite poor clothes along with his friends because they are the knights servants and obviously peasants. One of his special friends is the poet and well-known writer Geoffrey Chaucer, who is famous for writing the Canterbury Tales, one of which is called The Knights Tales. The baddy (Adimar) is identified because he looks rich and wears dark clothes, mainly black. Perhaps this is to represent the dark side of his character. The girl Jocelyn is shown to wear exotic clothes, with bright pastel colours. The trailer is as action packed as the film with lots of images flashed onto the screen giving the impression of pace, excitement and combat; knights jousting, crowds roaring, swords clashing and heralds introducing champions. There is very little text because the emphasis is on action.

The battle of Gettysburg was fought on July 1 through July 3, 1863, considered by most military historians the turning point in the American Civil War (Johnson 84). The Battle of Gettysburg was a decisive engagement in that it arrested the Confederates’ second and last major invasion of the North, destroyed their offensive strategy, and forced them to fight a defensive war in which the slowness of their manufacturing capacity and transportation facilities doomed them to defeat (McPherson 25).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Army of the Potomac, under the Union general George Gordon Meade, numbered about 85,000; the Confederate army, under General Robert E. Lee, numbered about 75,000 (Johnson 90). After the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 2 to 4, an important victory for the Confederates, Lee divided his army into three corps, commanded by three lieutenant generals: James Longstreet, Richard Stoddert Ewell, and Ambrose Powell Hill (Johnson 91). Lee then formulated a plan for invading Pennsylvania, hoping to avert another federal offensive in Virginia and planning to fight if he could get the federal army into a vulnerable position; he also hoped that the invasion might increase Northern war-weariness and lead the North to recognize the independence of the Confederate States of America (Johnson 85). In pursuit of this plan, Lee crossed the Blue Ridge Mountains, proceeded up the Shenandoah Valley, and, crossing Maryland, entered Pennsylvania (Clark 86). Upon learning federal troops were north of the Potomac, Lee decided to concentrate his whole army at Gettysburg (Clark 86). On June 30, Confederate troops from General Hill’s corps, on their way to Gettysburg, saw federal troops that Meade had moved down to intercept the Confederate army (McPherson 102). The Battle began on July 1 outside of Gettysburg with an encounter between Hill’s advance brigades and the federal cavalry division commanded by Major General John Buford, supported by infantry under Major General John Fulton Reynolds (McPherson 103). Hill encountered stubborn resistance, and the fighting was undecided until Ewell arrived from the north in the afternoon. The Confederates pushed against General Oliver Howard’s corps and forced the federal troops to retreat from their forward positions to Culp’s Hill and Cemetery Ridge, southeast of Gettysb... ... captured or missing (Johnson 91).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Lee retreated west and southwest through Hagerstown, Maryland and into Virginia. Imboden’s wagon train, composing of wagons and ambulances, stretched for over 17 miles (Johnson 190). Meade considered pursuit, but determined that the defensive nature of the Appalachian passes prohibited full pursuit (Johnson 191). Meade did harass Lee’s retreat, which resulted in minor skirmishes and capture of various Confederate units, but did not materialize (Johnson 191). Meade’s decision not to pursue Lee angered Lincoln, who expected a decisive victory (Johnson 192). Also, the lack of vigorous pursuit showed Meade as being too cautious. Lee hurting from Gettysburg, was forced to return to Virginia. The war was far from over and lasted another 2 years (Johnson 192).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Gettysburg Address, a famous speech, was delivered later that year by United States president Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1863, at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (McPherson 192). College and Dear Esteemed Members

Dear Esteemed Members of the Admissions Committee:I am submitting a letter of petition for readmission for the Fall 2011 term. I was dismissed from the university in 2005 for poor academic performance. Upon my entrance into the university I have always been very studious which has led me to excel academically throughout the years. When I began my studies at — I was ignorant of so many things. I didnt really pick up on college regulations and penalties comfortably until my sophomore year. It was then when I learned that I unfortunately didnt drop a class I thought I had dropped. I learned my lesson and became very familiar with the college catalog at that point. During my enrollment at —-, I truly tried my best but it was not good enough. I was devastated to see how I was performing when I knew I was capable of doing better. I graduated 3rd in my class with a 4. 2 on a 4 scale. I had never performed so poorly, EVER! As depressing as this was for me I never gave up. I kept striving for better results but in the end I had to face reality. When I was dismissed from the university I blamed myself for my failures. I was too proud to admit that there were underlying causes that led to such a poor performance on my behalf. When there are problems in my life I usually find ways to deal with them without making them known. Ive re-evaluated the situation and have come to the conclusion that I was in denial of the issues my medical condition was causing me. I am a type 1 diabetic which was not under its best control during my enrollment. I never wanted to admit that it was causing me problems but I realize that it needs to be known and I should not be ashamed of it. My health caused me to be in an uncontrollable state of drowsiness constantly. On some occasions it required hospitalization. There were times I woke up on my floor confused and out of touch with reality. The hospital became my second home. It seemed as if I wasnt at school or the dormitory I was in the hospital. During lectures, tests, and study sessions I fought to stay awake but I did not always win. I studied every chance I was given because I knew it wouldnt be long before my immune system got the best of me. Ill never forget one instance where I wanted to stay awake so desperately to study for finals I took 2 NoDoz pills (400mg of caffeine) and fell asleep almost instantly. Despite all my attempts to persevere, I still didnt want to accept that my diabetes was hindering my studies. Since dismissal I realized that I needed to make a drastic change not just for scholastic purposes but for my overall wellbeing. I teamed up with a dietitian, joined a workout program, and started on an insulin pump. Ive seen and felt a dramatic improvement in my health condition. I no longer encounter any of the issues I did while in college. I have also taken a couple of courses at a community college. For the most part Ive been working to gain experience in my field of study. I would like to be given another chance to prove the magnitude of my academics. My diabetes has maintained great control for a long time now. I am confident that it will remain that way. Im not far from graduation and my hunger for it couldnt be any stronger than it is now. I will send weekly progress reports if I must just to show how sincere I am. I have formulated a personal DARS report as a guidance tool to graduation. I have 45 hours left to complete. My plan is to take 2-3 courses each semester up until graduation. Following that plan will allow me to graduate in the spring of 2013. Japan at this time was ruled by the shogun from the Tokugawa family and during this period, Japanese contacts with outsiders were severely limited, primarily due to the fear of the shogun and the other samurai that outside contacts presented a potential threat to their power. In response to this incident, the shogun ordered defence to be strengthened along the coastline and rumours of impending war sparked off panic in Japan. Also, the shogun did something unprecedented and unusual, he actually requested the various daimyos submit their advice on how to best deal with the Americans in hope of rallying a consensus for his choice to make some concessions and avoid war(Gordan, Modern History of Japan, p49). The feast was introduced to the Israelites during the exodus. It is considered as a pilgrimage whereby all Jews journeyed to Jerusalem to observe the feast. As one of the feasts observed by the Jews, The Feast of the Tabernacles is considered as a means provided by God in order to fulfill his plan for mankind. This feast is deemed as a banquet that was a celebration of the blessings of God that were provided in abundance in order to coincide with the harvesting which occurred during fall. The Feast of the Tabernacles is also a representation of God’s faith to the Israelites after their exodus from captivity in Egypt, a memorial of their wandering through the wilderness, and life in the tabernacles. Essentially, the deepest meaning to Christians from the feast is the return of Christ and the commemoration of his return for his rule on earth. Literature provides that Jesus was probably born during the fall period that is relative to The Feast of the Tabernacles. The coinciding events, the birth of Christ, and the season of harvesting in the fall were an indication of the abundance of the blessings of God (Stalley, 2000). Christ is termed as man’s greatest gift from God. God provided mankind with Jesus Christ as an indication of his willingness to provide man with an avenue to redeem himself and reunite with God. Essentially it was an indication of the desire by God for man to save himself after the disappointing fall from grace in the Garden of Eden. Hence The Feast of the Tabernacles is essentially fulfilled in the second coming of Christ. The second coming will provide Christ with an opportunity to tabernacle among his flock. This will be made possible as Jesus Christ will assume the title King of kings and Lord of lords and ensuring that he provides rests to all the burdened (Towns, 2002). Mankind is burdened with sin and misfortunes attributable to the fall of humanity. The second coming is termed as the ultimate and climax of The Feast of the Tabernacles. This is because mankind will rejoice at the second coming of Christ as he will provide mankind with the much needed rest from their daily burdens of sin. Additionally, the reunion of Christ with mankind is joyous as this will provide mankind with the chance for eternal redemption and a place with the Creator and Son of God in the Kingdom of God. The symbolic return of Christ is symbolic in that it indicates that achievement of eternal existence and the loss of burdens of sins and achievement of happiness and joy brought about by the resurrection of Christ and his attainment of the throne (Stalley, 2000). The achievement of the eternal life marks a pivotal point for mankind. Hence Jesus could be termed as a symbol of the feast, which is the attainment of eternal life and peace. In addition, his resurrection, ascent and return to earth for a reunion with his disciples is similar to the exodus of the Israelites from the Egyptians where they were held in captive. In addition, it is also a reward from God to the Israelites for their belief in God to lead them to the Promised Land (Morris, 1989). Hence Jesus made a promise to mankind that he would return to save those who had faith in him and who believed in his teachings. More so, it was an indication of His second coming to take his people home. Such a reunion of the body in Christ is also similar to The Feast of the Tabernacles whereby all people brought together their harvests, sacrifices and offerings. In conclusion, The Feast of the Tabernacles is symbolic to the life of Christ and his coming into the world (White, 1971). His birth in Jerusalem is presumed to have occurred during that harvest in the fall, a period which people congregated in Jerusalem in order to celebrate The Feast of the Tabernacles. This was a means of rejoicing to God for his abundance in blessings.
